Supervised by Mariko Oishi, a food researcher currently based in the UK. Traditional British tea sweets, reimagined in a form that feels at home in Japan today.
Flavors born from life in Britain
Mariko moved to the UK when her husband was posted abroad. There, she discovered the British people's deep relationship with teatime — a daily ritual woven into the rhythm of ordinary life. The simple, warm tea sweets she encountered left a lasting impression.
She began reimagining those traditional flavors using Japanese ingredients and sensibility — creating sweets that hold both familiarity and freshness at once.
Simple. Warm. Honest.
Four British tea sweets
The Bakewell Tart is a traditional confection originating from the village of Bakewell in Derbyshire, England. A moist tart where the fragrance of almond and the sweet-tartness of jam come together in perfect harmony.
Carrot Cake is a staple of British tearooms. The natural sweetness of carrot, the warmth of spices, and the smoothness of cream cheese — simple ingredients, each playing its part with care.
The Flapjack is a traditional British tea snack: oats, nuts, and fruit pressed firmly together into a satisfying bar.
Lemon Curd is our house-made lemon sauce — lemon, butter, eggs, and sugar — bright in flavor with a rich, velvety depth. Finished in Mariko's own style as a tea sweet.
